Play .ts file on PS3

I have two questions, does anyone know how to play a 1080p .ts file on a PS3 without losing the quality?

Second question is the same question but for .mkv files?

.ts did actually used to be supported, but one of the later firmware updates broke it.

or how can I convert a .ts file and a .mkv file to play them on the PS3 with the same resolution?
