View Full Version : How to encode my HD videos to AVC with x.264 so I can burn them onto Blu-Ray/HD-DVD?

Hello guys,

I'd like to know what container, audio codec and what settings for x.264 should I use to create videos that I will be able to burn on Blu-Ray and HD-DVD easily and without sound and video recompression.

Another question is what resolutions are compatible both with Blu-Ray and HD-DVD (except 1920x1080 and 1280x720)? I'm interested in 1440x1080 with non-quare pixel and 720xXXX resolutions.

You'll need a special patched version of x264 to do that, look for the nal-hrd thread floating around here somewhere, there's more information as to the actual stuff you'll need in that thread I believe.
