Hello,

I decided to take some time and make a guide to convert Real media (.rmvb/rm) files to .avi for complete newbies. Hope you can post it in some guides section (I don't know where to find that section):

1. Download Avisynth: (http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=57023) , you will need this.
2. Download VirtualDub: (http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=9649), you will also need this.
3. Make a new text document.
4. Open it in a standard text editor.
5. Type "DirectShowSource("[Put the location of your video here]", fps = 29.97, convertfps = true)"
6. Example: DirectShowSource("E:\folder\video.rmvb", fps = 29.97, convertfps = true)
7. Save your text document.
8. Locate your text document and change the file extension to .avs.
9. Now take that .avs file and open it with VirtualDub.
10. On the top bar, go to Video->Compression and select Xvid (If you don't see it, go to http://www.xvidmovies.com/codec/ and install the codec and restart VirtualDub).
11. On the top bar, go to Audio->Full processing Mode.
12. On the top bar, go to Audio->Compression and choose MPEG-Layer 3 at 56kbps.
13. Press f7 and select where you want your video to be saved.
14. Wait for the video to finish converting.
15. You have now converted your Real media file to .avi!

The same guide that I made can be found here (http://www.wikihow.com/Convert-.Rmvb/.Rm-Files-to-.Avi.).

Open an Explorer window, click Tools > Folder options, under the View tab uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types" and Apply. You will then be able to change the extension of a file.
