hi, i can record bbchd from my dreambox in mpeg2 1920*1080, its 25fps.

I want to know which settings in xvid options i should use, i want to encode to around 960*544 ish and keep the ac3 audio intact.

No idea, but the sample you've provided is interesting, being 1920x1080 MPEG-2. I don't think I've seen any other BBC HD samples from cable. The ones from satellite (and, when tested in London last year, terrestrial) are all 1440x1080 MPEG-4.

The MPEG-4 bitrate used to be 20Mbps. It's dropped to 16Mbps now. The MPEG-2 bitrate on your sample is 17Mbps. Quality looks good.

Both shows you've shown are genuine interlaced content, so 50 fields per second. Encoding to 25 frames loses some of the fluid motion.

Maybe your question is better asked in the Xvid forum section?

Cheers,
David.
