View Full Version : Could someone help me IVTC and cleanup this DVD?

I have tried everything with this dvd, here is a sample of an area I keep having problems with:

I often end up with jaggy edges, or jaggy edges that seem to "move" (especially on static or near static frames that pan or zoom). I have tried many ivtc filters but I can't get one to look good. Also if anyone has any cleanup filter suggestions for removing the film grain/noise, that would be wonderful.

Thanks.

Make DGIndex project with Honor Pulldown Flags. Then:

telecide(post=0,guide=1)
decimate()

I can't see any problems with that using your test stream.

Hum, it still has "moving" edges in it after that (is this dot crawl maybe?)

Recompressed using lossless h264 with the settings you suggested. Look on the lines, see how they are kind of "broken" and moving?

I tried using tcomb, but even at max settings these still remain...

I don't know what to do with an MKV. Give me a HUFFY or just screen grabs, but I didn't see anything objectionable at all in my rendering. Tell me what frame to look at and which feature you think is badly rendered.

Alright, here is a huffyuv sample after going through what you suggested. Note the "moving" lines under his sunglasses. What is this artifact called, and is there any way to solve it?

I suppose that is an artifact of the digitization of the drawing. It's a pretty minor artifact. I wouldn't obsess over it.

Ah, alright. If there isn't a way to fix it, then I guess I won't worry about it.

Thanks.

You could try FastLineDarken() or some such thing, but IMHO it's just not worth it, because it is so minor.
