View Full Version : DVD Rebuilder and two audio tracks

Hi,
I was trying to rip the film Harry Potter and the order of the Phoenix.
The DVD has two audio tracks: English and Italian.
I want to keep the Italian and then removes the English in DVD-RB Input settings panel.
But final dvd contains both languages.
I am using version 1.26.5 of DVD Rebuilder Professional Edition.
Where am I wrong?
Thank you

Did you de-select the unwanted language after you did the prepare? If so, a new prepare is needed.

Also, can you actually hear the other language when you press the remote? If not, the stream has been stripped, but not taken out of the IFO tables (perhaps because it comes before the kept stream and to take it out would not preserve correct button commands).

Yes! I de-select the unwanted language before the prepare.
The audio track that I am removing is the first, this is the problem?

Shouldn't be - maybe jdobbs can help.

I haven't had any other reports of that. I'd need to see your REBUILDER.INI file... it doesn't sound like it is really deselected. Is it AC3?

Yes, it's AC3 audio

No wonder that there are two audio streams, you've selected two as can be seen in your ini. ;)

I don't remember that I've seen this before.

I've overseen that this is a full backup so you've probably two video title sets with two audio streams.

Can I resolve this problem?

I’m also having a similar problem with this movie, but my copy has English + Spanish tracks (one title with both tracks) and I want to do a movie only backup keeping only the Spanish track.

As always I’ve unchecked prior to prepare the audio/subtitles that I didn’t want in my copy. After the prepare phase I get a reduction level of 69% (~3900Kbs). I’ve done some tweakings with Preview/Edit, but I’ve gone too far and after finishing the rebuild process my backup has ended in 4,38GB.

Well, at this point I’ve decided to make this 4,38GB backup the input of a new rebuilder process reducing only the bitrate of the end credits, but after the prepare process I get that the reduction level is 100%, and in Preview/Edit the info says that the final size is 4,08GB and all cells are at 100% (setting all cells to not reencode still shows 4,08GB). Curiously 4,08GB is 4,38GB minus a DD 5.1 audio track, but in the Input Settings window I only have now the Spanish track (there’s no trace of the original English track anywhere).

After this weird result, I’ve loaded my “4,38GB” in DVD Remake, and the first thing I’ve seen is that the size it shows is again only 4,08GB (at this point I’m crazy as in my HDD I have a bunch of files weighting 4,38GB that ImgBurn cannot burn in my DVD+R media), looking at the audio tracks in DVD Remake only shows the Spanish one (as it should be) and exporting this DVD without touching anything results in a…. SURPRISE!! 4,08GB DVD.

At this point I’ve deleted both 4,38GB and 4,08GB results and started all over again but this time my first step has been using DVD Shrink get my Spanish movie-only without compression and give this to DVD Rebuilder, the result: now the level of reduction is 72% (~4200Kbs) and after finishing the rebuild process, I’ve got a 4,37GB copy (now my tweaks in the Edit have been less) and if I open the result with DVD Remake or with Rebuilder again, I get exactly the same size: 4,37GBso for me, it’s quite obvious that there’s something wrong with DVD Rebuilder when I rip the first audio track or when I do movie only rips.

OFFTOPIC: Why isn’t the seamless flag in the layer break set to YES when building a DVD5? (I have to manually set it in order to avoid the small stop I get in my standalone player if seamless is set to NO).

I'll look at that disc and see what is odd about it (hopefully it shows in the NTSC version).

Layer break can be a strange animal -- and sometimes it isn't a good idea to remove it (as some other packages do). You can, however, make DVD-RB do it the same way as those packages (aggressively) by adding:

AGGRESSIVE_LAYER_BREAK_REMOVAL=1

to the "[Options]" area of your REBUILDER.INI file.

Particualrly be careful if cells are marked non-seamless after a cell command for example, or after a non-continguous playback. I'm sure DVDRB would handle things well as it knows the PTSs for each VOBU.

Chompy, I probably misunderstood what you did, but it seems to me that you reduced bitrate in end credits from a source that was already DVD5 size ( the output of your first compression). Therefore,I think it is normal that your size is less than DVD5.

Thanks to all for your answers...

to the "[Options]" area of your REBUILDER.INI file.

Thanks for the tip jdobbs (and for your info my copy of HP & The order of the Phoenix is the Spanish PAL release).

Ok, I just wanted to get rid of the non-seamless flag that's only there due to layerbreak, as (at least in DVD Remake with which is the editor I have more practice) it's impossible to remove the non-seamless flags in the situations you've said.

Sorry if I haven't properly explained, my first source was the original DVD9 and I did a movie only rebuild selecting only the Spanish audio track and after the prepare (with redestribution) I lowered the bitrate of the end credits in order to give more bitrate to other cells, but despite the editor said the size would be 4,37GB I ended with that "4,38GB" backup in which ~300MB are allocated for nothing, as another prepare with DVD Rebuilder or an export with DVD Remake without doing anything gives me a 4,08GB copy.
