Xvid demands to download, over and over

Dear Sirs or Madam:

I have tried to access Xvid multiple times and everytime I click on theIcon on the desktop, it demands to download, over and over. Do you ever get to see and/or use the program?

Stop use your email on this site for every post. It is a forum and not costumer service. We share our knowledge here, so you might try to use search on this site to learn more about Xvid and other MPEG-4 ASP based codecs or Graphical User Interface (GUI) to control those features.

Second you must provide more information if you want any help as Xvid will normally not be placed as an Icon on desktop as it is only a codec. The only reason I can think of Xvid as Icon would be as an installer which would un-compress, copy files to windows directory so it can be found for all directshow based player (WMP belonge to those player) and then register in windows registry for where and what type of codec that will be used when it is identified to be a suitable video to decode by Xvid.

What player do you use to play those video? What kind of system do you have? If you don't know then google for CPU-Z (small diagnostic tool) to find a basic knowledge about type of CPU, MB and memory on your system.

There are players that work as a package which do not need to install Xvid as it is part of their codec. MPlayer and VLC are both capable to play MPEG-4 without need to download directshow based codecs.

SMplayer (MPlayer with a windows front end GUI) (http://smplayer.sourceforge.net/)
VLC (Best for streaming media) (http://www.videolan.org/vlc/)

None of these packages will need to download anything more and should be easy to use.

Xvid is a library used by other programs to compress and decompress video. You cannot "run" Xvid. The only things you can "run" that is included in the codec are settings managers to control how it decodes and encodes video.
