View Full Version : Annoying effect on x264 encodes in meGUI

I've been using meGUI for a while, and using the x264 profiles that comes in the software (because I don't know how to personalize my own one XD).
The profile I use all the time is "AE-Maxquality", and changing the bitrate to fulfill my needs at each encode.
However, I've noticed an weird effect that occurs everytime the source video blackouts suddenly. I admit it happens rarely, but lately I've been encoding the "Heroes" series to AVC and they use this "sudden blackout" effect everytime they change between characters and everytime after the title screen.
Look at these samples, all taken from ep 1x02:
Sample1 (http://www.4shared.com/file/31288370/8c096499/he01.html)
Sample2 (http://www.4shared.com/file/31288456/5213b5ab/he02.html)
Sample3 (http://www.4shared.com/file/31288512/30d0de81/he03.html)
The following sample is taken from an anime, but suffers the same weird effect:
Sample4 (http://www.4shared.com/file/31288631/99a953e0/tsu01.html)

If anyone know how can I prevent this annoying effect from happening, please help! =D

Where'd you acquire this video from? Was this a capture from a TV broadcast or ripped from a DVD?

I got it from file sharing sites. The original file is an 350MB AVI (Xvid/Mp3). It's probably a TV capture, as the NBC watermark is still on it.
