What kinds of file extensions are usually used to contain H.264 videos?
AVI, MP4? Others?
Thanks!

AVI--almost never, since its not really compatible when B-frames are used.
MKV--probably the most commonly used on the consumer end
MP4--also popular on the consumer end, with much higher corporate and standalone device support.
TS--Broadcast H.264, generally.
EVO--HD-DVD/Blu-Ray container.

When a so-called H264 .AVI file tells it's in OGG format. How H264 is related to OGG format in this case?

If you download those H264 files from http://www.leadcodecs.com/Download/H264-Videos.htm
and view them by MediaInfo, MediaInfo will show it's video format as "Ogg" Not sure if this Ogg is "Ogg container format" or not...

Some of theses files are genuine AVI files (What Box?), but others are indeed some OGG strangeness (Limerick), if believe MediaInfo and Hew viewing.
And they don't even seem to be true H.264 files : L264 FourCC, unplayable with FFDShow or MPlayer, even after changing FourCC to H264.
Look like an evil proprietary bastardization, for me.

Then how to identify, if using MediaInfo or any other tools, if a video file is H264 or not?
