I'm trying to rip Jet Li's Fearless with the Chinese audio track and the English subtitles and when I select the proper tracks and play the movie the timings for the subtitles are WAY off. How do I ensure proper timings for the subtitles?

You probably decrypt properly. Exactly how did you decrypt the film (decrypter program and settings)?

DVD Decrypter, default settings.
I'd have thought that the problem would be in the encoding not the decryption, but you're the expert so I'll trust your judgment. What should I have done?

Try DVDFab HD Decrypter.

I agree. And even if using DVD Decrypter, if doing movie backups, default is File Mode (up at the top, Mode->File). Much better would be to use IFO Mode for the movie.

I was in IFO mode when I decrypted the movies.

You said default settings, which is File Mode.
What movie and region is this DVD, if you don't mind me asking? If it's newish, with newish copy protection, then DVD Decrypter is the wrong decrypter to use.

That might very well be. I didn't get errors during the ripping like I got with Casino Royale which I then ripped with DVDFAB HD Decrypter. I guess I'll try that program with Fearless and see if it fixes my problem. Thanks for the help.

Casino Royale is a Sony DVD and uses ARccOS protection, for which you definitely need DVDFab HD Decrypter (or RipIt4Me for the earlier ones). Fearless, on the other hand, is a Universal title, and as far as I know doesn't use anything out of the ordinary. I could be wrong about that, though. setarip_old is one of the resident experts on which studios use which copy protections. Maybe he'll see this thread and chime in. It certainly can't hurt to try with DVDFab HD Decrypter. Good luck.

Well, I tried a different movie (Curse of the Golden Flower) and I decrypted it with DVDFab HD Decrypter (default settings, main movie rip, selected Chinese language and English subtitles) and I ripped it with AutoGK (default settings, Chinese language and English subtitles, 1 CD 700 MB size) and for the first half of the movie the subtitles are out of sync, but the second half of the movie is proper. Any ideas why this might occur?

No, I'm sorry but I don't know why that might happen. Perhaps this bump to the thread will encourage someone else to post and say something more intelligent.
