Logic 8 and 2 MIDI devices at once

For all those who use Logic 8 (on Mac) and who are familiar with multiple MIDI devices at once...I'm trying to assist a friend with a new setup in Logic 8 where he has a 4x4 MIDI box with 2 MIDI keyboards on ports A and B. In Logic 8 we cannot seem to figure out how to add both of these MIDI devices but where they are on separate ports. Every time one is changed to a given port it changes the other as well. Can't seem to find any help with Logic manual and didn't see any program settings that allow this. I'm not very familiar with MIDI devices and audio programs myself and so wanted to pose this just as a general newbie question. Thanks.
