I'm not a true newbie I suppose. But I wasn't sure where this went because there might be a few ways to do it. I want to rip the lord of the rings trilogy into avis. I own the extended edition so the main film spans two DVDs. I want to rip this into one avi. The first idea i had was to use nero to copy the first cd then mount it to dameon tools. Then use dvd shrink to rip both files off the cd and the mounted image into one set of files. Nero doesnt let me do this because of copyright. I suppose I could just rename the video files, but I don't think that would work with subtitles. (unfortunatly I nodded off in my elvish classes) I also thought about making two avis and somehow combining them. Then I figured I would come ask the Gurus. Any suggestions?

Hi!I also thought about making two avis and somehow combining them.Joining 2 such .AVIs should be easy to accomplish using VirtualDub:

**MAKE CERTAIN TO USE THE IDENTICAL SETTINGS WHEN CREATING BOTH .AVI FILES.**

1) Load the first .AVI into VirtualDub
2) Then File>>Append .AVI segment - select the second .AVI
3) Set BOTH "Video" and "Audio" to "Direct Stream Copy"
4) Save with a new filename
