View Full Version : File Just Too Large For Burning

Andrew C
26th November 2007, 19:24
I have been using DVD Rebuilder Pro, in "One Click Mode", for a while and have not had any trouble backing up dvds, but i am having trouble with this one.

When i try to burn the files to disc, the file size is just too large.
I searched the forum and the only response i saw, that i really understood, was to run the file that was too large through DVD Shrink, but after doing this the quality was really poor.

The problem is realy the same as this thread Output Size Too Large (http://http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=131421&highlight=file+too+large), but i use one click mode.
It is a dvd with four episodes from a series, with a menu, and there may be extras.
The recent rebuilder file below, is when i tried blanking extras to see if it dropped the output size that little bit, instead of backing up the whole dvd which is what i usually do, but both times the file came out the same size, just too big for a dvd 5.

I am not sure what is wrong, as i have backed lots of other dvds without any problems using one click mode ?
Hope you can help,

Post your ini.

And a side note, don't use movie and menu only mode with a series disc as only the largest of the four series of your disc will be recognized as main movie, the others will be skipped.

Managed to solve the problem.

I normally rip everything to my hard drive using DVD Shrink (no compression) and then use DVD Rebuilder.
And if i have a disc that Shrink cannot read (for whatever reason), i use VobBlanker to rip the disk to my hard drive.

So i thought i would run the ripped disc on my hard drive through VobBlanker, and as soon as VobBlanker started analysing the disc, a box popped up saying;

One_Seq_Tittle_PGC Check

The following PGCs are marked as not one_seq but they can be marked as one_seq (recommended)
VobBlanker will do it in output IFOs

VTS 01 PGC 008

There was no other notes and i could not see VobBlanker altering anything else (blanking, pointers, etc), though i did do a full vob & titlle scan on the dvd before running it through VobBlanker.

After running the files through VobBlanker and then DVD Rebuilder, the file size was fine and fitted on a disc fine.
I have burned and checked the disc and the quality is great again.
DVD Shrink hadn't processed the disc right meaning DVD Rebuilder was trying to run bad files.

Here are logs, and i see it has taken slightly longer to proscess the file after VobBlanker;

The ini isn't needed anymore as you've solved your problem. ;)

Besides the ini is located in the same folder where RB is stored.

And the one sequential title business is irrelevant. It is just a flag in the IFO usually associated with titles that have more than one PGC. Just accept that VobBlanker (http://jsoto.posunplugged.com/vobblanker.htm) has "fixed" it and go along your merry way.

I am now having the same problem again, ending up with slightly oversized dvds.
It is still the same after i use Vob Blanker to see if it fixes it, i have been uninstalling dvd Rebuilder and reinstalling it and have know tried Avi Synth 2.5.5, after reading a topic.

I tried VobBlanker last night and then DVD Rebuilder and forgot to move the stuff from the working folding, incase there is anything different.

After searching Rebuilders forum, this must be the Ini file, but it is not called that on my machine.

Is there any chance you have been changing audio selection settings between PREPARE and REBUILD? That is the only thing I can think of that might cause sizing issues.

I'm not getting any other reports of oversizing.

Can you look in your VIDEO_TS folder and see if there are any extraneous files that aren't IFO or VOB files? That can happen when doing preprocessing and can make the output too large. There should also be nothing except AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS in the DVDFILES folder.

Andrew C

I do not change anything, i always keep dvd rebuilder in one click mode, thats what i really like about it.

Sorry, deleted the actual out video earlier getting ready to try again, thought it would be the D2VAVS and text document from the working folder you would be interested in.

I am currently using CCE Basic Version 2.70.01.14 and i see there is a newer version, Ver 2.70.01.16, i would download that and try again and check everything again.

Thanks

That may be true, but unfortunately the "yellow flag" goes up when I see your source folder is named "VOBBLANKER". That would very definitely be considered "preprocessing". I'm not trying to avoid your issue -- but since it only seem to be happening in your configuration, I'm trying to see what is unique about it.

Andrew C
1st March 2008, 19:47
Same again with CCE Basic 2.70.01.15.
I only get AUDIO_TS & VIDEO_TS folders in the DVD FILES folder after dvd rebuilder is finished.
I checked the file types in the video folder and they were;
VIDEO_TS Backup File Of The IFO
VIDEO_TS DVD Movie Info
VIDEO_TS DVD Movie
And is repeated with each VTS after this for thirteen VTS.

The ini.

What you are describing doesn't sound right. But I think you may just be mistyping. I also think you have your system configured to not show extensions (which I would personally find annoying since you need to know the file types).

Here is what a typical VIDEO_TS directory might look like:

BTW... have you tried this on more than one DVD?

Just for grins, try adding this line to your REBUILDER.INI file under the [Options] area:

TargetSectors=2235000

That lowers the target sizing from its default of 2236400. The important point, though, is that you shouldn't have to. I've personally tested over 2000 discs using CCE (for most) using the default target -- and never once have I had an oversize.

What software is telling you it is oversized?

Andrew C

I have just deleted everything to reinstall, and have deleted the video files again, i was about to close AOL when i saw you had replied.

I am going to use a registry cleaner as well before installing again, read that it can help.

I will try again, and try to copy the info in the output folder showing the vobs, it is probably the way i am describing it.

I will post again later once i have redone everything.

Thanks

Just been trying to get this file working as i am watching it as i go (and missing it !).
I did have batch processing going with Lost Disc 5 and also Didc 6 and got the same slightly oversized size.

It is Nero 7s Burning Rom that spits my single layer disc out saying, file too large for disc - please insert a disc another disc (or words to that affect).

I have some other stuff to back up as well, i will try adding the target size you stated to the ini. to see if it helps, before i try the other stuff, as i know it will work fine with that.

I have also burned lots of dvds with rebuilder, just every now and then this crops up for me, probably just my pc.

I tried VobBlanker last night and then DVD Rebuilder and forgot to move the stuff from the working foldingThis can be an issue - the structure can be all wrong. Tick "Use Input Folder" in VobBlanker.

Does this DVD has some advanced protection on it? What did you rip it with? Any other preprocessing at all?

He mentioned earlier that he rips with DVDShrink -- which in itself can be a problem since Shrink is so far out of date.

Andrew C
2nd March 2008, 02:58
Hello Again
Still at it, and the same thing happened again.

This is what Nero 7 says;
There is not enough space to burn this compliation onto the disc.
Please insert another disc that provides more space....

Data to be written - 4,571MB
Space available on disc - 4,489MB

I burn to my hard disk with Shrink (uncompressed), then process the video with Rebuilder and then burn to disc using Nero.
Normally there is no hassles.
What would you recommend as a good ripping program instead of Shrink, i found it better than DVD Decrypter, but that was when they were still being devolped, and there is so many software programs out there now.

I am going to try setting the target sectors in the ini. to 223500 and see what happens.

Here is the results from the most recent try;

Just for information.

I have that same problem with 1 of the DVD's I'm trying now. It's a 7.1 GB disc, the 2nd out of a series of 3. The 1st and 3rd were alright, this 2nd is giving me pain.

The resulting DVD sizes I get normally are about 4.31GB to 4.35GB. This DVD consistenly gets 4.65GB.

Also I use use 1 click mode, but use HC as encoder.

Ini file has never been changed and is as follows.

I've not yet tried TargetSectors, but will try it first. Using Andrews suggestion on Vobblanker I found that it also gives a message during loading of the DVD.

VTS 02: Detected 32 cells with the pointers mismatch between VTS_C_ADT and PGC_PBK tables
Using VTS_C_ADT initial and end pointers...

This is quite usual in ILV/multiangle VTSs, but Vobblanker does not support them, except in skip mode.

Note: This is an InterLeaVed VTS

It then goes on to list the 32 cells. The DVD itself is indeed a multi-angle DVD.

Hope it's helpfull and maybe true to a reason as for why this occurs. If anything else needed, just holler.

Other then that this is a WONDERFULL program, the best.

Greetz,

I don't think there is a relationship between what you are experiencing and that reported by Andrew C. His source wasn't ILVU and he is saying it happens on multiple discs.

In your case, I'd made some corrections to the way ILVU is calculated in v1.27 because it had undersized on a recent disc:- Made adjustments to the sizing mechanism for Movie Only
encodes to prevent certain circumstances from resulting
in undersizing on seamless branching sources.It's a good guess that there is something peculiar about your disc related to that change. I'll take a look at it and fix it for the next release. Could you forward your REBUILDER.INF (from the D2VAVS directory) and REBUILDER.INI (from the DVD-RB executable directory) to dvd-rb@dvd-rb.com? That way I can attempt to repeat the problem. Would I be right in assuming this is a R1/NTSC disc?

Before I do that, though, it looks like you used DVDRemake on the disc prior to running it through DVD-RB. If that's true, could you please try to run the disc without preprocessing first as ot can help me in isolating the problem?

Thanks.

Hi jdobbs,

Thanks for your quick reply.

The REBUILDER.INF and REBUILDER.INI files have been sent to your quoted email address using the title of Andrews post as subscription.

I forgot to add this in the email I send you. The ini has already been changed to add the TargetSectors option to see if that solves the problems. That's the only difference from previous.

Just for info, I'm still using 1.26.6. Maybe I should upgrade, but normally never do that unless I hit trouble or a usefull new feature is added. Why change something which aint broken is my normal rule for that.

And yes, your right about the DVD, it's NTSC. It was not run through DVDRemake though. That part in the output directory name serves only as a reminder to me that after using DVDRebuilder that I still need to do that.

On your reference made about the change in 1.27. The DVD I'm having difficulties with is a multimenu DVD with several sections and angles. It's not a movie only DVD as referrred to in your change description. It's also backed up as a full backup.

Thanks very much and best regards,

jdobbs

Hmm... kills that theory then.

Mucked up my pc on Sunday and had to reformat it, which had; Lost-Series1-Disc5 & Disc6 on it, so don't have them files just now.

I didn't install Shrink on my pc this time, but installed ImgBurn instead and ran Disc7 & Disc8 with rebuilder last night, without adding a TargetSector size to the ini.

Disc7 turned out slightly over sized again, it has four 40 Minute episodes on it, the menu, plus extras, and roughly works out at around 7GB to 7.5GB on it.
Disc8 worked out fine, though it is a bonus disc and only had around 5.5GB on it.

When i tried to burn the IFO with ImgBurn, it said there wasn't enough space on the disc, but i tried to contine anyway and it then failed giving me an error, forgot to write down what the error was.
ImgBurn said the Image Size was 2346484 (4,582MB) and that the Disc Size was 2298496 (4,489MB).

So from the above info, i assumed the file produced was 47,988 too big, and deducted that from the default size rebuilder is set to, which is 2236400, ending up with 2188412.
So i set the TargetSector size on the ini to 2185400 and ran rebuilder tonight.
It worked, the output file fitted on a DVD, i then burned it with Imgburn and tried the disc in my standalone DVD Player, but it has a lot of green pixels at the bottom of the screen and the audio is out.

Here is the ini for tonights try with a TargetSector size in it;
