View Full Version : Why would I get worse results with the Bitrate Variance at 99 or 100%

I was playing with my profile and decided to max the bitrate variance to see what the results were like. I noticed, for the same bpp and bitrare settings, the results were worse than what I have it at normally (2.5%)

My x264 Matrix is "M4G-HighDetail-V3.1" if that has any relevance.

EDIT: When I say it looked worse, I mean it looked blockier on frames.

More bitrate variance isn't necessarily better.

If it was, a higher value would be the default, wouldn't it? ;)

I just figured it would have been better. No harm in experimenting. The recommended is 1.0-4.0 so I just set mine to 2.5 as it's in between. Thanks again Dark Shikari.
