View Full Version : Option to drop superfluous Sequence End Codes

May I kindly ask to consider removing unwanted sequence end codes, at least for 'Save Project and Demux Video' from multiple input files, or implementing an option to do so?

While the unchanged processing of stream data is a value in itself, it's quite an annoyance to stumble across these leftovers in later video editing.

I found this to be a problem after updating fcchandler's MPEG2 plugin for VirtulDub from 1.9 to 2.0, which now obeys these codes and stops loading the input file there.

The multiple input files originate from an analog TV capture by PowerCinema which splits the input data into ~2GB files (or any other size you choose PRIOR to the recording). Previously, I cut out the commercials with its companion PowerDirector, but after a fresh OS install, this program is unwilling to perform the Smart Video Rendering at frames other than I-frames.
Now, I would like to create .m2v and .mpa files with DGIndex, and feed them into Cuttermaran to remove the commercials, then open them in VirtualDub to determine the parameters for Krzystof Wojdon's LogoAway filter.

I found some places with references for ReStream to remove the sequence end codes, but this only seems to work on elementary streams, and that's where I'm caught, because Cuttermaran does not seem to accept multiple (video) input files. It's possible, of course, to run ReStream on Cuttermaran's output before feeding it to VirtualDub, but it would save a lot of time (and temporary hard disk space) if I could omit this step.

Thanks in advance.

Run Restream on the M2V file created by DGIndex.

OK, I will have to accept this. Thank you so far.

Although I had hoped (as stated in my initial post's last paragraph) to be able to omit this intermediate step. And it's actually faster to run ReStream on Cuttermaran's output rather than DGIndex's, because it lacks the commercial data already.

Maybe I could ask Cuttermaran's developers as well...
