Tvix M4000P firmware 2.20 problem

I am unable to use the pal firmware update 2.20 (claims its not a valid fwd file, despite repeating the downloads), only the ntsc one seems to work. I set all settings to default but nothing changes.

I've used the ntsc firmware, but what differences are there between the ntsc and pal firmware, and will they make any real difference?
