Hi, been trying to play my HD movies on my G4 Mac. I can play some of my ripped HD movies that I did from my PC on my mac if the bitrate is low. Tested "Apollo 13" and works but really to choppy to enjoy. But this is just a test and I wasn't really going to use this Mac as a HD machine but was more interested if play back was possible. Ok. So the next thing I did was hooked up my external xbox HD drive to my Mac usb port and reboot with the "Orginal purchaced Apollo 13 " disc in drive, to see if my Mac would at lease see the drive, if not possible attemp to play the disc. Is this possible useing 10.4.11 and if not would 10.5 os work, and or do I need special drivers for the xbox drive to work in a mac enviroment.

I tried the drive on a 24" iMac which has leopard installed.
the drive works, you can browse the files so it supports udf2.5 and if they aren't encrypted you can watch them .. so technically YES
but if you have an encrypted movie, you have to use dumphd and mplayer svn .. but still then you don't have any audio except you add the eac3 patch to the ffmpeg

Thanks for the follow up.

Without prejudice, do you see "Apple" famous for a lot of innovations sitting back on the HD DVD / Blu Ray playback issues. And if so why?
