A long time ago, I asked about good methods to create a stereo track from a mono one. Some pretty good advice was given and put to good use in many occasions. Being about to start doing some encodes which require the same upmixing, I was wondering if any alternatives have since surfaced that are equal or better than the old method (creating a dual channel mono file, then treat it with Elevayta's Wider Boy plugin).

As something of an extra, I wanted to know if you could recommend me some enhancers in the like of DFX or Nero Wave Editor.

Well, I am using this DX/VST plugin for that job, I apply the EQ, then I add some good room, and saturation in the end of course... The 32 khz mono sound from the broadcast with this can be compared to CD quality after applying this filter... I am rather using this made for winamp, then VST, because you can do quickly what you want...

If you like some DSP made for winamp, you can use it, instead of some professional plug-in...
