pureVideo in MPC and wrong Color-Space?!

Hello there,

I have just been experimenting with various filters and versions of MPC. Since I have a 8800 GT I'd like to have hardware accelerated h264 decoding/deblocking. I've read here in the forums but I don't get it running. I have read that I need a player with EVR Output and so I chose MPC Home Theatre. But if I select EVR as Output with Haali -> Power DVD 7.3 h264 Decoder I still get the same CPU Load as without EVR and without DxVA2 enabled. Strange thing is, if I play a BD (from HDD) with VC-1 within PowerDVD I still get about 30% load (E6750). Users say their load is about 1 - 5% with h264. h264 Files (in mkv) have about 50% CPU usage within MPC (VMR9) as well as MPC HT (EVR).
So what am I doing wrong?!

Another question: I'd like to take the PowerDVD h264 Decoder instead of ffdshow because it's Multithreaded and with ffdshow and some downloading stuff in the background I sometimes get 100% usage at one core - with PowerDVD never. But the colors are strangly light (like to high gamma) when I select this filter. It's like black beeing gray. Any Idea what's wrong there?

Hold "CTRL" then open the cyberlink's h264 directshow decoder options, you'll see the extended options, in profile if you have "SW" is not hardware accelerated.

Interesting. Yes it says "SW". But why?! I want it to be hardware accellerated!

Are on XP (dotnet3.x) or vista? EVR custom presenter does not support hw accel (I think), only the standard one.

I'm on Vista x64. The Standard one doesn't give a picture at all in the beginning. If I seek to any position, I get a Picture but SW again.

For vista only the EVR (standard) supports dvxa2 (geforce series 8), the custom one does not support them yet, maybe casimir one day will accomplish that.

Okay, I set it to standard EVR and open a x264 encoded video file ... The problem is - I don't get a picture at all. MPC HT resizes a bit but then noting happens. I see the Haali Icon in the Tray and PowerDVD Filter says "Bitstream" mode. And then nothing happens.
So what's the problem now?

those are good news!:)

"bitstream" means that the card is decoding and post-processing (like deblocking) the video in hardware. try another h264 video. there are some problems with x264 encodes, if possible an encode from a bluray disc or something ,something "official" because x264 is a custom encoder and hardware may have problems decoding some encodes from it. software decoders are always more flexible.

Hmmm, I'm gonna try with a HD DVD Stream but none of my x264 encodes work with that ... Can't be true, can it?

Actually he said Nero Recode not x264.
Well, I got it working with the h264 Stream of the Transformers Movie (original Stream) and got unbelievable 3% CPU load (probably from other tasks...). But actually there is only one x264 encode thats works, too. I don't know what the Problem with other x264 encodes is but I really do hope that one day every h264 encode (since x264 creates standard compilant encodes, I think) can be hw accellerated. For now I propably need to stay with ffdshow for reencodes.
