D2SRoba and CCE 2.70 "pausing"

Guys,

I am trying to convert an extract from an AVI file to DVD using D2SRoba and CCE SP 2.70 but the conversion is "pausing" and therefore not completing the process.
I have searched the forums for the answer and found a similar problem (this user was using CCE basic, I am using SP) but no resolution:

However, if I run DVD2SVCD directly the process completes and the resulting image files are correct but obviously take a lot longer to process.
To help track down the issue, this is a summary of my hardware, software etc:

Harware:
AMD Dual Core 4400, 2Gb RAM, 68Gb free disk space

Software:
windows XP SP2 (clean build from clone image)
DVD2SVCD 1.2.3 Bld1, CCE SP Trial 2.70.02.12, DivX 6.7, AC3 Filter 1.46

Sample File (Plays okay in MPC):
3min 4sec AVI, AC3 6 channel audio (448 kb), 720 x 304 resolution

Process:
Installed all relevant software
Imported Manolito's templates from:

DVD2SVCD settings:
Set DVD size to 4438
Audio set to use source (AC3 to AC3)
VBR template, 1 pass

Log details from DVD2SVCD (this one completes) and D2SRoba (this one fails) at the line:

- 2007-11-21 17:27:39
- Start movie CBR encoding (8000 kbps)


DVD2SVCD closes and the whole process stops. The D2SRoba icon in the task bar states "Script Paused" but I am unable to unpause it.

Any ideas appreciated.

Having carried out further testing the problem seems to be codec specific:


DivX only installed:

D2S pauses after the encode process and "appears" to be waiting for the encode speed. CCE doesn't report this information and therefore D2S remains permantly paused. I have tried to use the recover option in DVD2SVCD but this then processes the files without using my original settings the same as if I had used DVD2SVCD without the D2S plugin.

The resulting "Encoded_Video_CCE_PAL.mpv" and "Extracted_audio_1.ac3" are both created successfully and can be imported in TMPGEnc Author which would make sense because D2S stopped just prior to Muxing the files.


Xvid only installed:

I have installed the updated Xvid files but the error persists.

Closing the error boxes restarts the process and appears to complete successfully.


Installing both codecs together doesnt change the results of either test.

Any ideas?

Could you please check out this version of XviD:

http://ffdshow.faireal.net/mirror/XviD/XviD.cvs.head.MTK.exe

It is not the latest one, but this version sure works for Nick and for me.

I went over your log files, but everything seems to be OK. So far it never happened to me that D2SRoBa paused all by itself. If you cannot solve this codec issue maybe you should just revert back to CCE 2.67. I have been using both versions 2.70 and 2.67 for quite some time, but I am unable to really point out any difference in quality between the two.

I tried the updated Xvid files and it still gave me he same error so I don't thinks its that.

If I use the DivX codec the "Encoded_Video_CCE_PAL.mpv" and "Extracted_audio_1.ac3" appear to be created successfully which should be okay because I can then import then into TMPGEnc Author for menu creation.

It's not the ideal solution but at least I am able to use some of the advanced features CCE 2.70 can deliver.

It is most important to un-install previous versions of Xvid before installing the one Manolito pointed to. I have also been using that version very successfully and have never seen that Memory Error ever again. I also have Dixv 6.7 installed and un-ticked the option "Support decoding of Generic MPEG-4 Video". This ensures an Xvid is decoded with Xvid codec.

Thx CM - Good to see you again. Its been a long time since DVDR Base :)

Each time I run into an error I go back to a clean build using Drive Image. The image build I conduct all my tests with has only the following applications:

Windows XP SP2 plus latest patches
Hardware drivers
DVD2SVD
CCE

I have tested installing only DivX, only Xvid and both - I even tried changing the installation order to see if that helped (it didn't). It also didn't matter whether I used the build from Koepi or Nic

With DivX, the speed wasn't returned to D2S and the script paused. With Xvid CCE crashed.

But good news!

As one final attempt, I didn't install EITHER codec and only used AC3 Filter and ffdshow.

SUCCESS!! The encode carried on without error and completed - even as far as ISO creation. :)

All I need to do now is work out how to encode AVI's without the use of a codec and I am onto a winner ;)
