Hi, I am using Sony Vegas to convert to MP4. A couple of questions:
1) Does anyone know why my audio and video are about 3 seconds apart when I render all the footage? If I only do bits, it is in sync.
2) Is MP4 a good format to render in? I have tried others, and it gives excellent quality for the size, but are there any concerns about future support for this format. i.e. will dvd players support this format?

Thanks

I take it you are rendering edited footage? If so, then it is actually better (and faster) if you render to a lossless avi file using Huffyuv or Lagarith and then encode to MP4 using a program like MeGUI, AutoMKV or others. Those two are just my favorite. The quality will be better, and there should be a noticeable speed increase.

MP4 is not a bad formate to render in. Support is being added every day to new devices and eventually it will come to replace avi. Either that or MKV.

Thanks. Any thoughts as to the time sync issue? I've read in some places that this is a known fault with Vegas - would love to know if this is true and if anything can be done about it.

What version of Vegas are you running?

Also, how long is the clip you are trying to render?

It's vegas 6.0d (was 6.0c and I applied the latest patch to see if that would fix it).

I'm rendering about 30-40 minutes of video. Basically my camcorder uses miniDVD, so vegas imports directly from the disc, and then I edit it (not much), then try to render the whole thing to MP4. Previewing it all matches up fine, but the final rendered product is not synched. It seems to be about 3 seconds out the whole way through.

If I render just a portion, it's synched fine.
