Possibility to downgrade size without loss of quality

Hi,

I'm trying to back up some 1hour and 40 minutes series to a 746 MB file (backing up one of my favourite series). I used Auto Gordion Knot 2.45 using the FAQ on the site from AutoGK.

However, I'm not 100% satisfied with the quality. I'm sure it is possible to get a better quality, but I don't have a good idea how I can get it.

I removed subtitles, and I converted audio to VBR MP3, 128 kbps, which I think is reasonably.

Is there something I am forgetting? Thanks is appreciated.

Perhaps, it is one of those videos which are hard to compress. However, if you do not want to increase filesize for higher quality, I can suggest:
1)Make sure width set to Auto (so AGK can choose optimal resolution)
2)Or, if that does not help, perhaps reduce width manually to a level below current and see the result

With what source are you working? Can you not keep the original files, or keep them at a higher file size than what you specified? Reducing a file's size by converting ro Xvid or DivX, especially, using AutoGK, will invariably result in a loss of quality.
