Hello everybody,

Lately, I have learned a lot about video editing. Good color and levels editing is, in my opinion, nearly impossible without the help of a decent RGB and luma histogram.

Trevlac has made an exellent VirtualDub plugin: 'color tools'.

But it would be very useful if the histogram would be visible all the time, in a separate window, showing the histogram from the edited picture.

A transparant RGB histogram overlay over the -edited- picture could be a good alternative...

Two questions:

1) No way we could do this with Avisynth?
2) How do you all set levels etc.. without the histogram?

Thank you all in advance,

Fred.

Have you looked at the histogram functions built in to Avisynth?

Hi Flimsyfeet,

Yes, but my masters are in uncompressed RGB24...
I realy need a true RGB histogram.

the vectorscope mode is also quite useful (though it's upside-down...) for good colour balance adjustments.

personally i would prefer an RGB parade style waveform monitor than a histogram - it's a bit more related to the image at hand.

Hello Mug Funky,

But in practice, do you use it?
(I mean Trevlacs VD color tools plugin)
