hi.. i was trying out lumgain on the latest version of hc and wanted to ask when lumgain should be used. i was backing up 1408:
- Reduction Level for DVD-5: 87.0%
- Overall Bitrate : 6,587/5,270Kbs
- Space for Video : 4,084,438KB
- HIGH/LOW/TYPICAL Bitrates: 8,552/1,571/5,270 Kbs
using BEST Profile, Bitrate Redistribution, and LUMGAIN=2
i saw no real improvement; the dark areas looked pretty much the same, just not as dark. the movie as a whole was brighter, and so was the film noise from the original source.
is it because the bitrate of this movie is too high to benefit from lumgain? could someone offer some sample situations in which lumgain might be useful?
thanks. dynamis.
