Not sure if this is the best forum to ask, but I have a DVD movie folder on my hard disk, the audio is in linear pcm format. I'd like to leave the movie and menus as is, just compress the audio into mp2 or ac3 so I can fit it onto a single layer dvd. DVD Shrink only compresses the video to my knowledge, but what can I use to output a dvd folder (or ISO) with shrunken audio? If the video needs to be transcoded also a bit to fit so be it, but the audio is what I'm gunning for here.

I've used this method many times:

(I would, however, use WAV to AC3 Encoder (https://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=158644&package_id=219726&release_id=551344) to do the audio conversion step, but that probably just comes down to personal preference)

For compressing PCM audio in menus (if necessary), see the suggestion in this post to make sure the buttons and whatnot still work:

That did exactly what I was looking to do, thank you for the link. 5 years after that post, it seems besweet still can't do a good job of ac3 encoding so I went for mp2 format. Actually the ac3 sound quality was good but had glitches akin to a dirty audio tape. Couldn't figure out how to get heada3che to produce an ac3 file even with all the dll's properly loaded.
I didn't see your link to the ac3 converter til after I finished the process, but tested it and it seems pretty good. I was impressed by the ease of use (no additional downloads needed, no need to configure paths to dll or exe files) and speed - a 60 min wav was processed in only 30 seconds on my 1.7ghz dual core
