Playing back files with DTS audio causes them to stutter

Ok, this is a really weird problem that I've had for a very long time that is very aggravating.

Basically, any movie I attempt to watch in Media Player Classic that has DTS audio "stutters" every 20-30 seconds. It's not a set amount of time (as in, it may happen after 24 seconds then after 27 seconds the next time), and by stutter I mean the video playback seems to pause for a split second, as if the frame was being repeated.

Now I would think this would be a video playback issue, except for the fact it ONLY happens with files with DTS audio. What's even further annoying is the fact that every single option I can think of changing- from switching it to using internal matroska/dts filters to external filters, to changing the renderer, to disabling MPC's audio switcher, nothing seems to work. I am just at a complete and total loss as to what the problem could be.

Any suggestions at all that I could try would be greatly appreciated. This is really, really getting on my nerves.

Does this happen on your original DVDs, or only on the ripped versions of them?

Are you using AC3Filter?

Is this for HD DVD?

Are you using Haali Media Splitter?

I haven't actually tried an original DVD; I mainly watch hi def stuff with DTS (x264). It isn't a cpu usage issue- my cpu usage rarely ever approaches full use while watching these, and I have a fairly powerful computer anyway.

As I said in my first post, this happens no matter what filter I use, whether it be AC3Filter, ffdshow, or MPC's internal DTS filter, Haali, or MPC's internal matroska filter. I did forget to mention that I'm having the audio be passed along SPDIF to my speakers.

Whoops, busy week and I forgot about responding to this, but I tried some DTS DVDs and the same thing happened.

Does your system exhibit this behavior with all software players, or only Media Player Classic?

Does your system exhibit this behavior with standard DVDs, or only HD or BluRay DVDs?

All players besides VLC player but VLC need more CPU power to play

Finally found a solution. MPC Home cinema set to EVR (net3 instaled in XP)+AC3filter+CoreAVC work's so fine for me with DTS sound

I had picture stuttering i one hd movie with dts, i changed some stuff in ac3 filter so my reciever showed dolby digital instead of dts, and it disappeared (strange but true)

Not that strange as that works for me always too; however, I only use this method until i figure out what's up. Next time I'll try to remember how I fix this issue! :p
