I have 2 computers with DX9 and PS 2.0 integrated graphics (nVidia Geforce 6100 and Intel GMA 950). They playback DiVX/XViD/MPEG1 video on the PC only. I have been using MPC 6.4.9.1 + FFDShow SSE build on all default settings.
Recently, I started reading about VMR9, rendering in 3D with PS 2.0 bilinear/bicubic, outputing strictly in YV12 or doing HQ conversion to RGB32, Haali's Video Renderer, etc. and most of it is over my head.
I'm basically looking for simple ways to offload some work from the CPU by taking advantage of the DX9 hardware acceleration capabilities of the graphics chips, and/or improve video playback quality without causing CPU usage to jump up significantly.
Do you have any suggestions on how to go about achieving this without having to do a lot of fine-tuning?
