Hi Folks
Will Scenarist replace assets like DVDSP will? Can I replace an asset by writing over it or will I need to make it V2 and update the file path.
Basically I'd like to know the easiest way to replace assets.

Never used DVDSP but I'm guessing it's like Spruce in that it checks the modification date of the MPEG against the parse file and then reparses if necessary? I don't think Scenarist is that clever...you can simply replace assets but you'll need to delete the .vif's before reopening scenarist.
Normally I prefer to click in the property browser on the button labelled "..." and just browse for a new file. Then there's the ol' right-click, replace file path. I suppose the "easiest" way depends on how many assets you're replacing and what kind of work you're doing.

No Scenarist does not work likwe Spuce or DVDSP you could use Corions method if you are replace large amounts of assests. The easiest way to do it to go to your Data Editor right click the asset you want to change Place Hoder data>Place holder then scroll down to your inspector window and browse to your new file. Right your place holder again Place Holder ->Data. Just make sure that if your file is of a longer length that you drag the audio out in your track Editor. This way your replacement assets don't need to be the same name as the original it helps to keep track of any changes you have made.

In either the data or track editor, click the asset(data editor) or click the part you want to change in the track(track editor). Under the data bit point to the new file(named different), if it's a video asset scenarist will seem to hang but it's just making a new vif file. Make sure the parameters are the same or you'll get an error. I do this all the time to replace the video of a DVD9 project so it's a DVD5 project(so I don't have to re-author the DVD5 project from scratch).
