AutoGK Target Quality setting

Hi, I wanted to convert some VOB files into divx format, I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions for the "target quality" setting, I want to retain most of the quality but did not want the file sizes as big as the vob files, the default seems to be 75, I did have a search but could not find much related to this setting, any help from more experienced people appreciated! :)

On autogk I use 67% on XviD which is a quantizer of 3. For DivX I use 50% which is a quantizer of 4. Of course this is only for single pass (which I recommend).

There is a table in the AutoGK FAQ that will give you the quantizer for different target percentage.

If you want to retain quality, don't use "target quality." Use the 2-pass file size output instead.

CWR03 I am not sure I agree with you. I get great results with single pass and I don't need to worry about what filesize I need to have to get good quality. Take the movie Transformers, what minimum size would you set it at to get a good quality movie, I bet if you decide based on kbs or bpp you will get it wrong. In the movie Apocalypto you need a ton of bits to get a good picture, I think it is because of all the greenery in the jungle every time the subject moves and the camera pans there are a million leaves that need to move to. I just don't think most people can guess right; so set it on constant quality and .... go.
