I bought a Philips DVP3960 recently, with DivX and HDMI support. There is no mention of other Mpeg-4 support anywhere.
The manual states divx can be in AVI, MPG or MP4 files. Qpel and GMC is supported.
So I tryed some MP4s with ASP plus AAC that I downloaded or created with Nero Digital. They work fine. I suspect other recent DVD models will also play real Mpeg-4.
I find it odd they don't advertise Mpeg-4 support, instead of DivX's half-baked 1/4 of the standard. Apple and Sony have gone Mpeg-4 only in PMPs.
