So to answer your question, Yes; High Profile has the potential to produce a higher quality output.

The main advantage of High Profile is 8x8DCT, which gives a very considerable quality increase for little change in decoding speed or encoding speed.

I see a lot of other profiles on the Wikipedia page , r those profiles going to be added to x264 ?x264 already supports Baseline and Main, which are subsets of High. The only important profile it doesn't support is Extended, which is only really useful for broadcasting anyways.

Baseline isn't a subset of High. x264 supports the part of Baseline that is a subset of High, but not the features that are specific to Baseline.
