I've been seeing for months on the forum that Verbatim's are head and shoulders above any other DL disc. But I notice on another forum some discussion about new Verbatim's manufactured in India that are suspect. And I noticed a 20 pack I just bought at Best Buy are made in India. ImgBurn says they are MKM? Are these still the best? Who is MKM and what is the relationship or ranking- Ritek, Taiyo, MKM?
Thx

You might consider mail ordering your media. That's what I do. I got tired of BestBuy not having Verbatim stuff in stock. Also I wanted to experiment with Taiyo Yuden DVDs, which are not available in stores where I live. My feeling is that either you are willing to pay what it costs to get good media or you are not. If you are not willing to pay postage costs and must save money by going to BestBuy then you have to put up with you get.

From what I hear, the Verbs made in Inidia by Moser Baer are way inferior to the ones made in Singapore or Taiwan by Mitsubishi or CMC.

@bongoman31

Hi!Who is MKM"MKM" is the manufacturer's ID for "'Mitsubishi Kagaku Media"

BTW - "MBI" is the manufacturer's ID for Moser Baer India Ltd.

Additionally, I don't believe Verbatim D/L media has ever been manufactured by "CMC" ("CMC" has, however, been used to manufacture Verbatim S/L media) - "CMC" also has been noted for inconsistent manufacturing quality (most frequently regarding Memorex media)...

News article about this (http://wesleytech.com/verbatim-outsources-double-layer-dvd-production-to-india/38/). You can also read the bad experiences of some people in the comment section of that article. Even though I haven't tried the new Verbatim-MBI DLs, based on my previous experience with MBI, I'd stay away from them. I've encountered authoring errors on brand new DVDs manufactured by MBI. The DVDs wouldn't play on my DVD player and I had to go get them exchanged (there is no refund policy in India).

I order Verbatim DL spindles from newegg.com and so far they have all been Made in Singapore. But I cross my fingers everytime I order. All the spindles at my local Sams Club are Made in India.
