Depends on what kind of features you need and how much you are willing to shell out for an NLE. I wouldn't pay $584.95 for Sony Vegas, that much I can tell you right now. Before you think of buying, see how Sony Vegas compares (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_video_editing_software) against it's competitors. Also have a look at freeware/OS alternatives like VirtualDub, Zwei-Stein, HyperEngine-AV etc to see if any of them would suffice.
