QuickTime 7.3 has been released by Apple. It fixes a couple of security vulnerabilities and from what I have read also the NVIDIA compatibility issues.

It installs fine, but the problem is that it won't work properly on one of my computers. I get error -2093, which means that something is wrong with the file quicktime.qts. QuickTime 7.2 and earlier all work perfectly fine on that computer. I don't have any NVIDIA hardware, so that isn't the cause of my problems.

To investigate, I installed the exact same copy of Windows in two identical VMware environments. The only difference in hardware is the CPU. An Intel Core2 versus an old AMD Athlon Thunderbird. QuickTime works correctly on the Core2, but not on the Thunderbird. So that would make me think that QuickTime now suddenly requires SSE, or even worse SSE2.

Can anyone with an old CPU confirm this?

If it can be helpful, it works on Athlon XP (SSE).

Hi

I got the same problem with upgrading to iTunes 7.5. This Upgrade also updates quicktime to version 7.3, resulting in a unusable installation of QT and a non working iTunes 7.5 (Error 2093)

I fixed it by manually uninstall QT 7.3 and reinstalling QT 7.2.

The old version ist still available on apples site
