A bit confused about usage of Colormatrix on this source

Hello, everyone.

I am trying to make a backup of The Godfather movie at the moment. However, since my knowledge about colorimetry is very limited, I am a bit confused about how to properly use ColorMatrix on this source. As I understand, ColorMatrix is mostly used to convert from BT.709 (found on most DVD's) to BT.601 (to encode with xvid, x264 or whatever). But DGIndex reports that source's colorimetry is 'BT.470-2 B,G'. As far as I know ColorMatrix does not work with BT.470.

So, could you suggest me whether do I need to use ColorMatrix in my case at all? If yes, with what parameters?

P.S.: I am going to backup to XviD and my goal is to preserve the colors of original DVD as much as possible.

Even though there are subtle differences between these two colorimetries in theory, for practical purposes, Colormatrix assumes that ITU-R BT.470-2 = ITU-R BT.601. So you shouldn't need to use Colormatrix here in this case.

I am pretty sure according to the colormatix manual, rec 470 is the same thing as rec.601, or at least so alike that it doesn't matter. If this is true, than unskinnyboy is correct.
