Closed Caption for DVD

Hi,

I have a DVD movie, the main movie is quite big, it approximately 7GB, I demuxed everything to movie .m2v .ac3 .srt then I re-encoded movie .m2v by using HCEncoder (free) and finally I have 4GB movie .m2v. After that, I mixed them up together and I have the movie. But the problem is that original DVD has Closed Caption but mine encoded movie doesn't?
What can I do to put Closed caption into my movie?

The very easiest way to do this is to use DVD Rebuilder (http://dvd-rb.dvd2go.org/). So many of the steps are done for you. There's a freeware edition to get you started. Check out our DVDRB sub-forum (http://forum.doom9.org/forumdisplay.php?s=&daysprune=&f=75).

Hi, you can also extract the sub-pictures from the original DVD using PgcDemux ( http://download.videohelp.com/jsoto/dvdtools.htm) and author with Muxman ( http://www.mpucoder.com/Muxman/versions.html) or ReJig (http://download.videohelp.com/download/Rejig05f.zip), then use PgcEdit ( http://download.videohelp.com/r0lZ/pgcedit/index.html) if planning to reinsert the original menus or simply editing. If using another authoring program which doesn’t accept SUPs, extract the sub-pictures with VSRip (http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=82303&package_id=84442) and output with SubreSync (http://www.videohelp.com/tools/VobSub) (from VobSub) to a compatible format. Note, VSRip also automatically saves only the Closed Captions in SRT files named with formats such as utf8, utf16be, utf16le, and etc… AFAIK they’re all the same captions. It's why blutach mentioned DVD Rebuilder, it simply saves time.

Closed captioning is not done with sub-pictures. It is a stream of data inserted into the video as user data. This gets lost when re-encoding, and has to be added again after the encode step.

closed captions is not the same with subpictures. I think it's in .m2v, I know some DVD authors like DVD Maestro or Scenarist can handle this easily. On the other hand, DVD Rebuild is easy to use but not so customize I think or I don't know how to handle it with DVDRebuild. For example, I chose not encode main movie which is approximately 3GB, just wanna encode extra feature. After prepare steps, DVDRebuild allow me to chose which parts are compress or not, but it said DVD's oversized???

Thank you for clarifiyng guys, but does VSRip actually rips CC? Once I was dealt with such project which extracted the CC in SRT & RAW format!
