ffdshow postprocessing and x264

Why doesn't ffdshow postprocessing work with my x264 videos? Is there a build out there that does? I get my ffdshow from this site: http://www.free-codecs.com/FFDShow_download.htm

I am going to guess that you unwittingly have installed another H.264 decoder, such as CoreAVC, which is being used instead of FFDShow.

Grab the Insurgent (http://www.cccp-project.net/download.php?type=cccpi) and post a Test Render on a file you're having issues with.

I know how to check the graph information in Zoom Player. It's using ffdshow.

Unless you have a specific reason for using it, that first filter should probably be unregistered/uninstalled (Reclock). But there isn't any obvious issue past that...

First and foremost, search for "H.264" and "post-processing", then hear me out. H.264 contains an in-loop deblocker, that basically negates the need for a post-processor that you'd find for MPEG-1, MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 ASP video. The fact the option is there in ffdshow and you have it enabled and you're unhappy it's not post-processing means that the decoder is doing its job perfectly. Repeat after me: "The in-loop is the de-blocker, not the post-processor."

yea i've heard that before. But I have some low-bitrate x264 videos that are in dire need of deblocking. Unless this in-loop deblocker has a deblocking setting I can adjust because as it is it's not helping at all in my low-bitrate videos. Although if I'm not mistaken x264's built-in deblocking is a setting adjusted during encoding right? So I'm stuck with that?

Make sure that in the "Codecs" section of ffdshow at the bottom you check "Raw video" -> "YV12" or "YUY2".
