In fact no ... it's very old (and false) test with JVT h264 implementation. RV10 is a very old codec now and H264 produce by far better result.

Quality tests between codecs are always difficult, its easy to say put Realvideo at the highest quality settings and set x264 to the lowest quality settings for example.

Never trust any comparison on the website of a company that sells video encoders.

Many, like RV10, VP7, VC-1, etc will claim to be X% better than H.264 in their clearly unbiased tests.

x264 has beaten RV10 long ago, in term of quality and filesize.

Yeah, every company is going to advertise their's as the best. They have to and the way they conducted their comparison it may have actually came out the way they said. Anyway, nobody is going present their codec as second best. On a side note. I'd sure like to have an updated version of the On2 codecs for personal use. Seems like it's been forever since they've released anything to the public. VP6-S? Supposedly, words from the company, they have incorporated some of their upcoming VP8 tech into the latest VP6 & 7 codecs. I guess that's just for paying customers. Also they've written the latest code for the H.264 that will also be part of the next Flash Player. That's what I hear anyway.

Yes, thank you. I have VP7 personal use. What I meant is that they haven't updated the personal use version of VP7. It's still version 7.0.10.0. I know On2 has newer versions. They just won't release them for personal use. .

Where did you get this information from? Untill the moment on2 never updated their old codecs. Just went for totally new one.

And it's even unfair to say "right now", it'll be years before either of those are ready for even semi-mainstream use.Snow/Dirac are next-generation codecs; by including OBMC and DWT, they ensure that they will not compete with H.264 for this generation, rather, they will compete in the next generation, in about 8-10 years, when processing power is widespread enough to make such features acceptable for ordinary HD use.

Of course, by then, we'll probably have H.265 ;)
