i tried to copy The fast and the furious but failed
here are my steps

1)rip complete movie to hd
2)opened VTS_08_0.IFO in ifoedit cause thatz were the main movie is
3)vob extras and checked: stip stream's, correct Vob unit, Correct ifo tables, creat new video_ts.ifo and vts_01_0.ifo, and remove
p-uops
4)put the files that ifoedit made into VIDEO_TS folder
5)burned to dvd-rw with vob instant cd/dvd

please someone tell me what i'm doing wrong.
this method worked with all my previous dvd's
why not this

i forgot to add that i used get vts sectors on both of the new ifo files.

The fast and furious movie i made plays on powerdvd but it did not play on my stand alone dvd player which supports dvd-r and dvd-rw

Fast and the Furious Region 1 DVD

1. Rip with Smartripper, Backup mode
2. Make new directory FFDTS
3. Inside of FFDTS make the directories AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS
4. Copy VTS_08_1.VOB - VTS_08_5.VOB to FFDTS\VIDEO_TS
5. Copy VTS_08_0.IFO to FFDTS
6. Open VTS_08_0.IFO in IFO edit .80
7. Click VOB Extras
8. Select "Strip Streams" and Create new VIDEO_TS & VTS_01_0.IFO (this doesn't really create the VIDEO_TS and VTS_01_0.IFO files but it does automaticly name your new VOBs to VTS_08_1.VOB....)
9. Check all but leave either the DTS or the Dolby AC3 track unchecked (they both won't fit even if you uncheck everything else belive me I tried)
10. Rename VTS_08_0.IFO to VTS_01_0.IFO (it will get over written with the new one don't worry)
11. Click VOB Extras
12. Select "Correct VOB-Unit (Navigation Pack) pointers in VOB" Files, "Remove P-UOPS", "Correct IFO tables with new VOB-Unit Infomration" and "Create new VIDEO_TS & VTS01_0.IFO"
13. Click OK and make sure you keep the same directory
14. Open VTS_01_0.IFO
15. Click "Get VTS sectors"
16. Save it over top of its self and make the backup bup file
17. Open VIDEO_TS.IFO
18. Click "Get VTS sectors"
19. Save it over top of its self and make the backup bup file

You should now have a working copy of Fast and the Furious in the directory X:\FFDTS (X: being your drive letter)

Burn this to a DVD-RW and test it. You will have 49 chapters for some odd reason but it should work. I have done this twice (once for DTS and once for Dolby Digital 5.1).

I have burned both to DVD-RW and watched them completely so I know that it is possible.

Coop920 what did you use to make the menu and how much different was your process than mine? I'd like to be able to take menus on my movie only rips too.

Yes i am using ifoedit .8 but have not updated vob instant cd/dvd 6.

but this should not matter cause i've used this method for all my previous dvd's

Get the update for VOB. I had some movies which worked fine, but others didn't. Thought the same thing you did, that it couldn't be the burning software. Got the update, and worked fine ever since.

Especialy if you create a new VIDEO_TS.IFO and VTS_01_0.IFO, then you must use the last update of VOB Instant, or it wont play in settop player.

It's strange that it did work before with other movies with the same method.

MickeyNBK,

after completing step 9, ifo edit crashes when i click "ok"

seems the vts_01_0.ifo file needs to be in the same directory as the vob files.

yep, that's right.
IfoEdit expects the VOB files in the same directoy as the current loaded IFO file.

I didn't see a reason to change that, cause it makes sure, you will process the right VOB files for the current IFO file.

I followed all of the instructions and it seems to have worked fine. Now I need to burn it. I have a matsushita (sp?) DVD-R drive and I'm trying to burn the files using Nero 5.5.6.4 and I get an error right after I select the burn icon. The error is something about Disc at once. Any ideas?

i believe you must select 'disc at once' rather than 'track at once'

i think MickeyNBK went the long way.

my steps are much easier and faster. and it works now when i use recordnow dx
