Hi, sorry to bother you with this, but you may be the only avenue out of my problem: I wanted to set my NEC ND-4550A to all regions (or region free as some call it) and on http://www.firmware.fr.st/ I have discovered a MAD DOG firmware, which was supposed to deal with the problem. It was 16x3dvd9-8x_FW_1F1.exe and/or 16x3dvd9-8x_FW_v1F3.exe, which flashed OK, and works, but it did not change region code to 0, only renamed drive to "MAD DOG MD-16X3DVD9-8X".
I would appreciate it very much, if you could advice me as how to change it back to NEC ND-4550A so I could keep updating it with original FWs.
Another reason is that on http://liggydee.cdfreaks.com/ I found a 109_rpc1.zip file, which is supposed to flash modified FW with RPC1 for NEC ND-4550A but which also doesn't recognise "MAD DOG MD-16X3DVD9-8X" drive as the NEC ND-4550A was renamed by application of MAD DOG FW.
In the meantime I'm using DVD Region+CSS Free, which probably works for all DVD/CD drives.
Thank you very much in advance for your replies.

sharktooth is right on the money.

grab the binflash win32 gui here (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=IBNNJHX2)

use the rpc1 you reference with binflash. should be good to go.

I have tried the mentioned binflash (v.1.42) with that rpc1 allready and it doesn't work. It returns "Firmware is for a different drive".
Thanks anyway!
