I am posting the log for a set of errors that I continually get... this started happening suddenly last night.

It has occured with 3 discs so far, not just the one listed. Any idea what could POSSIBLY be happening?

If you got empty segments, are you sure the rip is OK? And the prepare was done OK? 35 minutes sounds like a long time - I guess you were redistributing. Try the prepare again using HC for redist pass (see mode menu).

It looks like either there are no frames in the files... or your encoder is crashing. Do the AVS files playback if you open them with Media Player?

Yes, it is an old computer AND I'm redistributing. I am using HC for the redist pass and CCEBasic for the encoding. The problem occurs the minute the encode phase is begun.

I believe the prepare was done ok, as it went through the redist and all and completed successfully.

@JDOBBS

The AVS files in the D2AVS dir in the working path are empty, or close to empty. The resulting M2Vs do not play and are very small... a meg or so.

It gets weirder.... when encoding begins, the CCE window opens with the I and P frames showing 8.00 and then go immediately to -1.#J and then I start getting the empty file messages...

So Bizarre. Anyone else know of anything?

UPDATE: I wiped the OS, formatted the drive, reinstalled XP and CCE+REBUILDER 1.26.5. Same thing happened. Immediate failure on encoding phase. Same errors as above. I have no idea what is going on or how to even try to fix it.

The AVS files now open in WMP, and play video from the source. Does this change anything? Does it take the problem in a new direction?

If I try the whole encode with HC, it works. It seems that CCE (or the config) is the problem SOMEHOW... considering this is a fresh install of XP, I'm puzzled.

Are you sure your CCE executable hasn't gotten corrupted?

Are you sure your CCE executable hasn't gotten corrupted?

Sir, how right you are!

I JUST solved this problem this evening. By performing the CCE install on a new, clean Windows installation I was able to determine the common factor for the occurrence of this issue... the specific file used to install CCE.

I had taken the machine apart, switched RAM modules, checked everything from top to bottom and was still getting the error. I decided to take the common denominator out of the mix, and deleted the CCE installer file that I had used on both the old installation and the new.

I went to Cinemacraft's website and downloaded a fresh copy... installed and voila. Problem disappeared.

I have done 2 discs since, no problems so far... keeping my fingers crossed that this is the last I will see of it.

PS - Rebuilder is a fantastic app, J!
