Good Infrared Ghost-UFO Hunting Camera I can buy

I bought a Sony Handycam CCD TRV108 which seems very good in infrared mode and low light conditions at least compared to my newer Sony DV infrared capabilities... but I would like to know if there are even better cameras out there military type if possible that allow me to see deep in the dark like 100 meters deep and with clarity. Anyone here with knowledge on how to do that? I know besides the invisible infrared illuminations the infrared sensors have to be good so give me a good advice for a camcorder that has all that.

you might want to look at infra-red LEDs arranged like a hunting lamp.

though these are sorrt of visible in low enough light - they'll be like a dull red (unsurprisingly).

I was a UFO investagotor for Mufon in the 1990s and I can't tell you how many cases were NOT UFOs but people not knowing how to use their camcordes and the neat artifacts they produce.

I have the only known video of the real Phoenix Lights, March 13, 1997, no its not the flares dropped by the AirGuard, its still an unknown. Its about 43 seconds long showing 6 objects in formation moving around in relatiobship to each others.

This footage has been aired on the Discovery Channel and world wide but hasn't got the play time as the camera artifactes flare clips.

The V formation was captured with a Sony night vision HI-8 but the person only had 8mm tape, not HI-8 tape in the camera.

The noise floor was very high, so what would I want to changed if we could film it all over again?

DV, single large chip camcorder 2/3 inch, noise figure -60 db or better, hi infarred sens. on a tripod, with some fixed object reference for size comparasion, manual focus, manual exposure, and a on going audio account of of the event.

BTW the Yourtube video looks just like all of the baloon footage I seen. In the Phoenix area, there are a 1000 plus baloons lost everyday into the air using in advertizing. Interesting subject but 98% is just hot air, so spend your mony with that in mind.

EDIT: One last thing, know how to load and use your camera or camcoder in total darkness.
