Play stage6 divx without Divx Web Player?

I don't want to install Divx's stupid web player to watch stuff on stage6, or other divx sites. Is there a way I can get FFdshow to play the content on these sites?

For playing the files inside your browser you need the DivX web player browser plugin.

If you download the file, then you can play it in your favorite player. It's basically just an AVI file (with .divx extension).

You could try the MediaPlayerConnectivity extension for Firefox, that should allow you to pass the URLs of embedded media to an external player of your choice.

Can't help you with IE, though.
