Cant Play DIVX dvd on Pc

Hi, my friend gave me a Divx DVD which comes free with LG DVD players which supports divx. When i tried to play it on PC the playback is not well it kind of freezy with lots of pixels its like playing a heavily scratched dvd. Although the Disc Cover says that pc playback not supported. So is there any way to recode, modify the file so that it plays smoothly on PC.

I checked the file in Gspot its Divx, MP3 joint stereo encoded file.

Do 'normal' DivX files play fine on your PC? If answer is yes then probably this DVD has some kind of weird copy protection...

Edit: I think you could also try to copy the DVD to hard drive and then try to play the video from there.

No CODEC is no Problem. I copied it to my HDD first and DIVX runs fine on my PC. I tried to play with Divx Player, Gomplayer. Both were not able to play the file "smothly".

I think i have enough processing power- Intel Pentium D 805 2.66 Ghz, 1.5 GB DDR2 RAM, ATI Radeon x200 IGP.

I think its specially encoded for DIVX DVD Players as it says PC Playback not supported. But still i wanna make it run.

Can i upload the video for your analysis? If so how do i cut it ?

here is a short clip from the video 1.2gb sin_city.divx file which i cutted using vdub. The extension automatically changed to avi after cutting.

1. I cut and uploaded the video as it would be of greater help to you.

2. Yeah, there are six high quality Divx Movies in the DVD. It came free with LG Dvd Player. Other movies are- Pulp Fiction, Unleashed, The Myth, Swadesh, Main meri patni aur woh.

I see nothing that should prevent the DVD from playing properly on your PC.

Does it play properly on a standalone (DivX-compatible) DVD player?

Yup...It plays fine.

Is there any avisynth script to make it work?

It sounds a lot like those files have DivX's DRM copy protection.

If the disc came bundled with your friends LG player then I guess his standalone also came with a license so the files are playable on it. I doubt you'll be able to play or convert those files on your PC though, as the disc cover says, because of the copy protection.

If it had DRM protection, it wouldn't be playable at all...
Are you sure about that?
I googled 'divx drm' and the descriptions were similar, namely the audio plays okay but the video has mixed up pixels....

Hi, I've looked at your sample and the video looks messed up on my PC also, as if it's corrupt. That's what made me think it was some kind of copy protection, especially considering the source and the warning it contained. I could be completely wrong, of course, but it just seems logical.

Maybe if one of the guys from DivX is reading this he may be able to shed some light on the situation for you. Sorry I can't be of more help than this.

1) I don't know if it qualifies as "DRM" per se, but the sample you've uploaded appears to have some type of copy protection.

2) Since your ownership of the original DVD is questionable, I'll say "Bye", now...

@Jeffster- I think its not DRM Protection bcos the official site says a different thing abt Divx DRM-

"DivX DRM ties content to the user, not the device
DivX DRM ties the content to the user account, not to a particular computer or consumer electronics device. If an unauthorized user tries to access protected content, it will not play, but the user can be quickly directed to a website where the content can be paid for and watched legally. By giving people the freedom to download the content they rent or purchase, to watch wherever, whenever they want, our solution is more flexible and easier to use than others that tie content to devices."

@Setarip- Are you sure its some kinda protection? Can u guide me to the right place where i can see for help.

and yes one more thing you have played the sample file so what kind of playback is it? i mean is it called pixelated ?
