View Full Version : Terrible trouble with EAC3TO tool

I am having the most trouble with the EAC3to tool. I know I can't expect or demand too much because it's a free public tool, and I totally respect that it's even available, but hopefully someone here can give me some help.
First off, let me say I'm running on windows vista 32. Anybody know if there are any known problems with vista and this?
So, I started by demuxing the hd-dvd files with EVOdemux, and that seemed to go well. Despite all of the guides telling me it would output a eac3 file, it output a WMA file. So, I decide to start playing around with that. I send it through eac3to.exe and it tells me it's a compatible file (E-AC3), it's 5.1 audio, tells me the length blah blah blah, great, and then...
nothing.
No freaking error message, nothing. It just sits for a second saying "removing dialog normalization information.." and then command prompt.
Ok, so I find a eac3to gui, and I turn off that dialog normalization nonsense (of which, I know not what it even does) and it says that it can't load the nero audio 2 plugin, and/or the dd+/dts/ac3 source plugin. So, I go on this hunt for the dd+/dts/ac3 source plugin, and the only place I can find to download it from is in this lame-ass windows vista codec pack.
So, I got the codecs, and tried again, and again it starts trying to remove dialog normalization, but then give me an error message telling me the expected raw file size was not correct (it's 0 bytes) If I turn off dialog audio normaliazation removal, it begins to create a raw file (which I'm told is a step in the right direction) but then I get a windows error message saying E-AC3/TrueHD/PCM -> Ac3/DTS/FLAC has stopped working, windows is very sorry, but tough crap. Life sucks, go die.
Maybe the error message doesn't say exactly that, but that's the impression I'm getting.
I'm been playing around in graph edit, and I can get the audio to play if I push it through the sonic hd audio decoder to my speakers. I can also get it to play in Media player classic with the sonic filter, so I know the EAC3 file is fine, But as I understand it, sonic screws up with DRM, so that's not really an option. But, I can't get it to play with the nero filters at all (in graph edit, or mpc), it keeps crashing out. I wonder if something is screwy with my nero filters.. I've installed multple versions of nero, including the newest one (which is supposed to be totally vista compatible). I have DMR turned off, and everything running in admin mode, made sure all the codecs were registered properly (not to mention that they show up in graph edit, so that's fine..) What's up with that codec error, I wonder.. what codec is that from? (E-AC3/TrueHD/PCM -> Ac3/DTS/FLAC)
Anybody know anything about what I'm whining about? Hopefully...

1. Im sure you will find all answers in eac3to Thread!
2. Sonic Decoder has nothing to do with DRM
3. Nero8 will not work! only Nero7 !
3. When youve a corrupt ec3, fix it with Delaycut 1.3 fom Madshi
You wrote eac3to wont take your eac3...simply run it through Delaycut
4. DONT use Sonic Audio Decoder for eac3 ! You will get full DRC+DialoNorm+Gain!
"Only" NeroDecoder provides decoding without DRC/Dialnorm
5.You need the Nero HDDVD/BluRay Plugin
You wrote eac3to cant load Nero Filter! Simply because youve no HDDVD/BR Plugin and/or Nero8
And eac3to cant load Sonic for you because you have not the DTS_Ac3_DD+ Source Filter

When you check these Points, im sure you will find your Problem
And you will find all in the eac3to Thread, you only have to search a little bit
