Hello,
I have written a small tool to list all DXVA2 modes supported by your video card (and his drivers). It works only with Vista, and be find here :

With my old GeForce 6600 GT + forceware 163.75 the results are :

Shows what resolutions each format supports for dxva2, which is useful as ATI often break mpeg2 HD acceleration. Also shows what deinterlacing modes you get with YUY2/NV12 etc.

Well, after using both tools I suppose I don't have H.264 hardware acceleration right? Can some one confirm this by checking my previous post? In xp I could use dxva for h.264 with cyberlink's decoder but in vista not anymore, my card supports it.

I was under the impression that partial H.264 acceleration (i.e PureVideo) was a functionality in the GeForce7 and 8800GTS/X/Ultra range, and full H.264 acceleration (i.e PureVideo2) is a feature of the 84/5/600 and 8800GT only. I might be wrong, mind.

You can decode h264 (some x264 encodes may not work), wmv9 and mpeg2 in xp with proper decoder and renderer like cyberlinks and vmr9.

DXVA checker v1.4.0.1 (http://bluesky23.hp.infoseek.co.jp/DXVAChecker_1401.zip)
This one is in English as well. It's a nice program... Just drag 'n' drop a video over it and see witch filters support DXVA as well, and their modes.

This one is in English as well. It's a nice program... Just drag 'n' drop a video over it and see witch filters support DXVA as well, and their modes.
Thx Kado for the Tip this is really a nice programm for debuging problems :), especialy the Chaincheck for DXVA capapble filters (and their features) is nice, now it's only missing that you see wich parser was used for the File you checked :D

The program will tell you your hardware capabilities regarding video decoding with DXVA (hardware video decoding and post processing).
You can also drag a video file over it (use obvious formats like h264, mpeg2, wmv9 and vc-1...) to check your codec DXVA capabilities, enable "use enhanced video renderer" with right click (for vista).

this new version of the tool is great, it provides new info and you can even see if dvxa actually works. too bad that I'm on vista with a 6800gs because I can't decode h264 in vista with dxva, only in xp.

Use a filter and a renderer that supports dxva without any intermediate filters. You can use the standalone mpc hc video decoder along with evr/vmr9 and get hw accel video using dxva if all conditions are met.
