Wierd Aspect Ratio

I have an mpeg4 .mkv video file with a resolution of 656x432 which i wanted to burn to a dvd. Windows calculator tells me that the aspect ratio of this file is 1.519. Has anyone seen this resolution/ratio before? Looks a lot like the 1.5 ratio of 720x480 (right?). What do i need to do to resize this file for dvd (stretch/letterbox/ect.)? What dvd aspect ratio do i use (i have a mix of 4:3 and 16:9 TVs at my house)? Thank you.

Well, for regular computer playback, you can re-mux it at the proper aspect ratio with mkvmerge, would probably be the easiest.

Ifff! the MKV pixels are square, it's probably a 14:9 crop and chop. Encode it up as 4:3, 720x432 with 24 pixel top and bottom borders. (For PAL 4:3 720x512 with 32 pixel top and bottom borders).

If the MKV pixels are anamorphic, you will need to determine the Pixel Aspect Ratio, display on a PC screen with 1:1 pixels, find an image of something round and measure the height and width, this ratio will be the approximate source PAR. Adjust your DVD sizeing accordingly.
