FFDShow audio configuration help

I am using a Mystique 7.1 soundcard.. That is a Dolby Live Soundcard connected to my 6.1 surround sound receiver by coaxial audio out. My question is how best to optimize the settings for ffdshow for use with my card? Few of my questions below...

1. Should I be using dolby decoder? currently it's off

2. what should I use for mixer settings? Currently I use same as input.

3. Codecs I have it set to all supported since many of the videos I watch have low volume I have volume set to 200% to make up for that problem.

4. What should I be using for output settings? Currently I use 16 bit and 24bit. Should I be using like AC3 or any of the other options from default?

5. Should I enable any of the other options like Stream Switcher?

It depends who you ask, I am generally of the belief that you should enable as few options as possible to try to keep your sound as close to the source as possible. Same with video.

No need for Dolby Decoder, cause you wanna passthrough that over coaxial anyway. Be sure to set AC3 and DTS to 'SPDIF' in the codec options to ensure this happens.

I disable mixer settings, I think it's mainly for if you wanna upmix into other speaker formats. imo that kind of thing should be done at the reciever end.

Some vids just have low volume. You can make up for it by enabling the volume tab and selecting Normalise, though this is again a preference thing.

Output I'd leave at 16-bit default. AC3 is for outputting as AC3, which you usually won't want to do. It's handy for transcoding 5.1 AAC videos to 5.1 AC3 for passthrough to reciever, but I prefer using AC3Filter for this simply because it's louder.

I have no options enabled really, you won't need to enable them unless you need them for a specific reason.

Thanks I didn't even realize their was an SPDIF option in the codecs setting. I think sound sure sounds better since I changed that and I disabled the mixer also.
