View Full Version : Black borders on left & right

Hi guys,

After using DVDShrink 3.2.0.15 to rip & burn a DVD I've found that when I play it back on my TV the picture has been cropped so that the left and the right are missing i.e. only about 80% of the film shows with the missing bits just appearing as black vertical lines. It does however play fine from my PC. I've ripped a number of DVDs in the past but have never seen this before. Any ideas? I've also tried using DVDFab HD Decrypter 3.2.1.0 to get the files on my harddrive & then DVDShrink to shrink & burn but I get the same result.

Thanks in advance

Hi!

1) When you play your original, purchased DVD from your standalone player to your TV, does it also playback with the same borders?

2) Have you tried adjusting the settings that may be available on either your standalone DVD player or your television (e.g. 16:9, 4:3, 4:3 Pan & Scan, 4:3 Letterbox)?

3) What is the Title and Region of the original DVD

Thanks for the response.

1) The original plays fine.

2) I can adjust the settings on the TV to remove the black borders (i.e. zoom in on the picture) but is still means 20% of the picture is not being displayed. Playing the original puts black borders on the top & bottom but not the sides. Hope that makes sense.

3) It's for the 3 DVDs of the TV series Battlefield Britain (Region 2)

This problem is not the end of the world as I have the originals & these are only backups but it is annoying & I would like to understand what is going on.

Thanks again.
