2 small things that must be done :
the .exe name in the encaacplus package must be renamed (enc_aacplus.exe to encaacplus.exe)
avimux_gui is not included in the upgrade.xml file...

The path to avc2avi.exe can't be changed in MeGui\Options\Settings\Program Paths.
Clicking the button does nothing.
And yes, as Kurtnoise13 mentioned, there is a problem with underlines in folder\files names.
There were at least 2 files not recognized correctly by Megui because of differing file names.
Forgot the second

1 - the problem is not in the exe name... i've found the problem but it requires an update (uninstall and reinstall)... im committing the fix.
2 - done

1 - the problem is not in the exe name...
well...dunno but renaming the exe file, encoding works fine.
Note that you need also enc_aacplus.dll at the same place and nscrt.dll somewhere in the path...

we cant distribute those file... the user have to manually copy them from the winamp installation folder to the MeGUI's enc_aacplus folder.
however im about to commit the fix for enc_aacplus.
that will change the megui.settings so a clean install as soon as i put online the new build (0.2.6.1033) IS a good idea since even the upgrade.xml needs to be modified to reflect the changes...
if you dont want to reinstall, then:
- rename the encaacplus folder into the tools directory in: enc_aacplus
- open the megui settings and go to program paths
- set the new enc_aacplus.exe path
- save the settings
- upgrade megui
- after restarting megui will ask to update the enc_aacplus package. do it.
if you wanna do a clean install then grab the new version here: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=156112&package_id=244469&release_id=543182

I think that "Language Files" folder is missing in the package, right ?
I got this

when I try to use the AVI Muxer...

Yes, it may be required. Just letting you know that, although I thought having folders there was the problem, I might be wrong. I actually had to delete my old copy of AviMuxGUI for it to work anyway, so the folders may not be to blame.
PS: There have been problems with folders in the past since, when simplistically extracting zips, you can end up expecting a folder to exist that doesn't. If extracting folders is in fact a problem, then there's a function in MeGUI which could help: FileUtil.ensureDirectoryExists(). Unfortunately, I have no time to look into this now.

For a workaround: put English.lang file in the root folder and edit languages.amg file...

I had a problem when converting an avi file. When i was using megui .1030 it gave me an error (send and don't send to microsoft type of error) but the encoding process continued and was correctly done at the end. I don't know if th error still persist with the new version though. Peace

I am trying the autocrop feature in avsynth creator.
I get an error:
Fatal error:
MeGUI encountered a fatal error and may not be able to proceed.
Reason: Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt. Source of exception: megui stacktrace: at MeGui.avisynthclip.dimzon_avs_getvframe(intptr avs, intptr buf, int32 stride, int32 frm)
then at a bunch of other places
any idea?
edit: i fixed it :) I was opening an avs synth in there and it doesnt like it

@kurtnoise the workaround doesnt actually work. it still says it cant open the language file...
at this point i think we need to support the folders extraction.
Kurtnoise

@kurtnoise the workaround doesnt actually work. it still says it cant open the language file...
Are you sure ? Works fine here. As I said, be sure to edit the languages.amg file. Putting only the English.lang file in the root folder, this file must be:
number=1
English.lang
Anyway, I've tested the function mentioned by Berrinam and that doesn't seem to work...I'm looking for something else.
Sharktooth
28th October 2007, 16:35
yes. i just did that and it says it cant open the lang file... (IMHO it's weird...)
EDIT: Ok, problem found. If there are no config files it wont work... that means we should also distribute the config files... :)
EDIT2: Done, it's up on the auto-update server. please test.

I'm currently using MeGUI 0.2.6.1033 and I don't think this version comes with avimux_gui.exe. Running update doesn't restore it, and there's no directory configured for it under Settings -> Program Paths -> Muxer

You have to use the development server...The package is tagged as 1.17.7-1.

the encoding status windows disappears on completion of first pass and doesn't appear on second pass . This has been happening with the past few releases .
Also if u could add a few more filters to avisynth script creator like color levels , and other commonly used filters , it would greatly increase Megui usability .

I don't know about your complaining..
The cqm's "are" in the "extras" folder after a fresh install.
If not, there might be something burked @ your side.

Ok, here is a bug that I have noticed a couple of times. I'm not sure if this will exactly reproduce it, but I believe it will.
If megui has a x264 task processing and then it is closed uncleanly (sudden power outage) When megui is started again you will see the task in a "processing" state. You cannot stop, delete, or remove the task from megui. The only way to delete it is to go to the megui folder and delete the task xml.
The first time I observed this was in a megui crash, second time in a power outage. I can't reproduce it right now as my environment is broken (dang you microsoft!) but feel free to yank your power cord for the good of megui :) (I have observed this in both the current stable version and the dev version 1034)

did you try with the latest build from today ?
I just uninstalled MeGUI completely and installed it again (latest development version). I get the same result: cqm's are missing in XviD presets. I also checked folder C:\Program Files\megui\extra (folder where all cqm's should be) and it's just empty.
Regards,
Irakli
P.S.: I also notice that MeGUI downloads Lame3.98 alpha 11. But this version is a bit old now since there are beta builds around. So could anyone please update Lame version to e.g. Lame3.98 beta 5 (beta 6 exists but sometimes may produce lower quality than beta 5)?

Hi!
So 0.2.6.1036 is stable now! Could you please include new version of xvid presets to 'stable' package (since when servers are set to 'stable' megui downloads old version of xvid presets with not working cqms). Also MeGUI crashes with 'fatal error' during update when 'development' server is chosen.

Irakli

I'm sorry, always the same if i update to a higher version, megui is very unstable on a vista x64 machine. i always need to reinstall the complete avisynth before it works proper.
if i want to open a avs a error appears:
http://img43.imagevenue.com/loc753/th_33256_megui_122_753lo.jpg (http://img43.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=33256_megui_122_753lo.jpg)
log notices from windows event monitoring:
Fehlerhafte Anwendung megui.exe, Version 0.2.6.1036, Zeitstempel 0x47330588, fehlerhaftes Modul ntdll.dll, Version 6.0.6000.16386, Zeitstempel 0x4549bdf8, Ausnahmecode 0xc0000005, Fehleroffset 0x0002b28a, Prozess-ID 0x1070, Anwendungsstartzeit 01c822150ddca095.
yep its a german workstation, UAC is completly deactivated and so on. i hope anyone can fix this in future versions.
another error follows:
http://img132.imagevenue.com/loc35/th_34110_megui2_122_35lo.jpg (http://img132.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=34110_megui2_122_35lo.jpg)

complete deletion of program folder and reinstall of app has worked.

I have WinXP 32bit SP2, MeGUI development version, AviSynth 2.5.6. Also confirmed with 2.5.7.
I get the following error message:
Cannot open video input
The file C:\X264 PROJECTS\TEMP\VTS_01_1.avs cannot be opened.
Please make sure it's a valid AviSynth script and that AviSynth is properly installed.
You can check the validity of your script and AviSynth installation by opening the file in your favorite media player.
If that works, try opening the video in VirtualDub(Mod) as well. If the former works and the latter doesn't, install a YV12 codec.
Error message for your reference: Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt.
This occurs every time I do any of the following:
1) Select any .d2v in the "Video Input" filed of the Avisynth script creator.
2) Select any AviSynth script in the main Input tab if the "Open Preview after AviSynth script selection" setting is enabled.
3) Open any AviSynth script in the AVS Cutter.
Additionally, I get this error if I try to close MeGUI with File|Exit after dismissing the error I quoted above:
http://img522.imageshack.us/img522/8352/errorafterfileexitlk6.th.jpg (http://img522.imageshack.us/img522/8352/errorafterfileexitlk6.jpg)
The same scripts that cause these errors are watchable in vdub/vdubmod/mpc, and can be encoded by MeGUI.
None of this was an issue in earlier versions (I think it was working up to 0.2.6.1036).
